Mac "clipsaver"

I used a "Clipmate Program" on my PC. I would like to know if anyone has developed a similar program for the MAC?
It would preserve clips in either a temporary file or a permanent file and also paste the clip into any place you wanted to put it. Another feature was it would strip extra non-printing characters like line feeds an wrap text.

I thought I found one but it was not possible to download the program and then the next screen was white on a black background--impossible to read for us 89 year olds! And I would like a program as soon as possible--I haven"t 10 years to wait for program development!

Cheers!

Hi Kaybar,

Here's an application that looks similar to Clipmate:

Here's an article about other options:

For screen captures on Mac OSX there is a utility called 'Grab'. This utility should handle some of the tasks that you are looking for.

Here are instructions for Grab:

I use iCliplite, which is a really convenient dashboard widget. It appears as though the company that made it, Inventive, is no longer in business. However you can still get it through Versiontracker and Macupdate.

I use a few things, depending on what it is.

Snippets of text, URLs that I don't necessarily need bookmarks for, I put into Notational Velocity. A new feature they just introduced is syncing with a cool iPhone notes app called Simplenote.

You don't have to use the syncing though, and you can also password protect the whole note database. Though, I still keep any passwords or secret notes in Keychain Access.

If I truly need to strip all formatting from something I'll use TextWrangler. In fact I used to use that for everything in one big long searchable text file before I discovered Notational Velocity.

I still use Stickies all the time, for the floating transparent window feature, when transcribing text out of some place I can't just copy and paste.

Yojimbo is an application for Mac OS X also by BareBones which I've wanted to try for sometime, but as you can see above I already have a free assortment of applications I use for various clip-related items.

I'm still putting it through its paces, but so far I've been happy with Clips.
