Hello, I am looking for recommendations from the Android Market for a video player specifically for MP4 movies.

Thanks!

For playing most media, I use TuneWiki, which has a ton of great features (including lyrics in 40 languages, album artwork, playlists, etc.) and connects with YouTube, Internet radio, and social media sites like Twitter and Facebook). But the one thing it doesn't do is play video from your SD card.

For this specific need, you should check out Meridian Player Noble, which also works well for music (but with fewer features and not quite as well as TuneWiki), but does play video in a variety of formats, including MP4, directly from your SD card.

Here's what it looks like on my phone, with a low-quality MP4:

You can swipe the slider to advance the video or rewind, or just use the navigation buttons. This panel slides out of the way until you need it, giving you full-screen video when you don't.

Another handy feature you can set in your preferences pauses the movie when you receive a call and resumes playing automatically when you hang up.

For more suggestions on the best Android apps for a variety of needs, check out the book I've coauthored with Mike Hendrickson (Best Android Apps), which should be released in April.
