How do I uninstall ghost apps from my Droid?

I downloaded the Facebook and Visual Voicemail apps to my Droid and then uninstalled them. However, the icons are still on my phone and I can't remove them. It's put a really bad taste in my mouth about both these companies. Any ideas on how to completely uninstall these from my phone?

Do you mean the icons are still on your desktop, or are they in your application list? If the former, have you tried long-pressing the icons and dragging them to the trash?

Yes, they're on the desktop. Out of frustration, I even stopped by the Verizon store, where they said the only solution that might work is a complete reset of the phone. There has to be another way.
