From the descriptions I've seen of the camera, it looks as though it uses MPEG-2 format for the video. In that case, you may want to try just using Burn for Mac OS X. It's an open source package that burns different types of discs including video DVDs. It uses ffmpeg for encoding, which should recognize the MPEG-2 format. It's open source, and free, so the only cost to you to try it out would be time, and a DVD-R disc.
I've only used the software for data burning myself, however.

Looks like there's a number of questions from this user. Rather than repeat the same thing over and over it might be worth combing them here:
I recently bought a MacBk Pro w/ the Final Cut Express program. I have a panasonic camcorder model pv-gs31. My mac does not recongize it. I have tried two different fire wire cable (4 to 6 pin) and does not recognize it. The camera works on my kids PC (Windows). Any suggestions? Final Cut Express 2 won't accept Panasonic PV-GS320 minidv camcorder files? I have a Panasonic PV-GS39 camcorder from a few years back. It is a mini-dv camcorder. My question is about whether it can be recognized by my iMac Intel 24" running leopard. I understand that a firewire cable is needed to transport video. However, should the computer also recognize the camcorder when connected via usb at least. Will this camcorder even work with Mac? And if so, will the video files be accessible in FCE to edit? Any suggestions on where to find a solution would be very helpful. Thanks. |
