I have Windows 7. I was wanting to back up all of my computer games(safety first). I need to know if it takes a special kind of a CD to be able to do this? Also, is there anything special you have to do to be able to back up your games? I would think it would be legal to do since I've already paid for the games. Used to they would send you a CD back up but, now they want extra money for it. So you should be able to do it yourself. If anyone knows anything about this I would appreciate any help and advice.

I think the backup procedure depends on the disk type. If it's a CD or DVD, you can probably use Handbrake or Nero or Roxio to create a backup. If it's a PS3 or Xbox 360 disk, that could be far trickier.

None of these game back ups are for x-box, etc. just regular computer games. Should I get DVD instead of CD's? Thanks

Well if these are steam games, the only real worry you have is if Valve goes out of business, which isn't very likely. You can always download those games again. If these are games you've purchased and you want to make a copy of, most of those require the media to be in the drive.

Any shareware game I've ever purchased and for whatever reason deleted, I've been able to get another copy from the publisher as long as they're still publishing it.

For old games, there's sites like gog.com.
