Restore App-specific Data on iPhone
A friend of mine's marriage may or may not be in question here... no pressure.
So my buddy was just blessed with his first child. His wife uses his iPhone to record milestones (I've forgotten the specific app, but its essentially just like iTrackBaby, it may even be that one.) She has taken pictures and tagged each picture with meta data about the moment. Time of day, how far he crawled, all that baby stuff. So, somehow my friend (I swear its not me) puts his brilliance on display for the world to see and deletes the application. Now he's got a borderline killer sleeping in his bed with him at night. So his question to me, which is my question to you, is is there any way to restore that data (pictures, metadata, everything) from iTrackBaby? 2 Replies
Not wanting to buy the app myself, doesn't it store the photos themselves in the iPhone's photo library? Most of the other photo apps I can think of do that.
Also, just a thought, but if the iPhone was synced to itunes after the photos were taken but before he deleted it, then perhaps adding the app from within itunes again would restore the data from a previous backup. Plug the iPhone into itunes, right click on the iphone's name in the left-hand list of devices, select "Restore from backup..." and follow the prompts on the screen. If that doesn't work, I suggest becoming a light sleeper.

This problem illustrates a huge flaw in Apple's mobile OS. They promote multi-user use of their product, yet they don't offer multiple user accounts. They've taken UNIX, a multi-user OS, and thrown the user in a jail. Now they're crowding the whole family into the cell. Check out this video titled Family Man This is so wrong. |
