Apps are software, too, and sometimes software gets stuck (just ask anyone who’s used a computer for more than a month). To make a cranky app shut down without having to restart the whole iPad, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see the red “power-off“ slider—but don’t slide this time. Instead, press and hold the Home button down until the app quits and you find yourself back on the Home screen.
