Hi - I've been waiting for the longest time for a light e-book reader that can display .pdfs and enlarge their text. My understanding is that the iPad comes closest, but it's not e-ink. I want the e-ink !!! Does anyone know if such a device is available or soon to be available ? And why isn't one available - is it a technical limitation or deliberate by the manufacturers not to include such a feature ?

Thanks in advance.

The Amazon Kindle has a PDF reader which lets you zoom in on the page, enlarging the text. It isn't perfect, but it works.

Sony's Reader (I have a PRS-600 "Touch") has the ability to display and enlarge PDFs. The results are usually acceptable, but not ideal, if the underlying document is predominantly text. If the underlying document is a graphic, I read it on a computer. And grumble.

Having said that, I need to warn you that Sony's Reader Library computer software's unacceptably poor, and the Reader Store's a bad joke. I really like the Reader itself, but the lousy support's driven me to buy a Nook.

The Kindle DX, when oriented in landscape mode, will display PDF files at full size; and can zoom in a bit further as well.
It does not offer much in terms of navigating the page or zoom level though. Still, the larger display definitely helps when reading densely packed PDF's. The only major drawback is that I occasionally encounter a PDF that would not be rendered correctly. About three out of about forty documents had slight problems, and one just would not open.
