CS4 Photoshop - Why can't I see my images no matter what format they are in.

I don't know what has happened to my CS4 Photoshop. No matter what photo or image I open, and no matter what format they are in, I only get the grey background. It was working fine but I hadn't used the program in a few months and now that I need to use it I can't. I have your Missing Manual but can't find an answer there or in the Photoshop Help. I hope someone can help me with this.

FOR ANYONE WITH THE SAME ISSUE - I knew it would be something simple so I kept trying different things and voila all I had to do is >Edit>Preferences>Preformance and un-check the Enable Open GL Drawing box.
