How to play an A on the D string in fourth position for cello

Well, first you need to get into fourth position. You put all four fingers down on the D string in first position. Then you slide your second finger to where your fourth finger is. You repeat this two more times. Now take your second finger off the D string. Play that note. It should sound like your A string.
