dreamweaver cs4 website doesn't work in browsers but does in dreamweavers browser feature.

What are the problems I should be looking into when the page is viewing and working fine when viewed through dreamweaver's view in browser feature but when I go straight to the site it is all messed up? Oe it won't open at all.

I would take a look at the most important tags of your HTML code, make sure that you have matching pairs for:

<HTML>
<HEAD>

</HEAD>

<BODY>
</BODY>

</HTML>

And then, check that every tag in between has a matching closing tag.

Some things that you can do:

  • Run your page through an html validator, such as this one: http://validator.w3.org/
  • You will also want to open the developer console in your web browser and look for errors.
  • You may want to post the URL so that those of us with time can take a look at what you have going on.
