I recently bought an iPod Touch. I want to load the past 10 years of calendar data from my Palm IIIxe onto the iPod. How can I do this?

Transferring data from older devices (even with workhorses like the Palm IIIxe) can get complicated. If you're running a Mac and would like to get your Palm calendar converted to iCal you can try The Missing Sync for Palm OS from mark/space. If you're running a PC you can try DBA2CSV. You can try to save a little cash by trying this tutorial, but since you've got 10 years worth of calendar data you might come up against limitations of the software involved. If you're running Linux, you could try opensync.org or its predecessor MultiSync.

I carried around my Palm-compatible device (Sony Clie) and my iPhone in my purse for over a year before I finally found a method for moving my data over. I had 5+ years of calendar on my Palm from several Palm deveices that I just couldn't bear to part with!

I searched for months and only found very complicated methods that involved too much code manipulation for me. I finally settled on CompanionLink Software (http://www.companionlink.com/products/companionlinkforgoogle.html). It has a 14-day free trial. That's all I needed because I just did one sync.

If I remember correctly, I synced my Palm data with Google Calendar then used Google Calendar Sync to get it into Outlook...which updates through iTunes. I have since abandoned the iPhone Calendar and just use Google Calendar for all of my different calendars.

It looks like CompanionLink has done some updating since I used it over a year ago, so the process may be easier now.

Good luck! Make sure to back up your Palm data before you try it!
