Do those "jawbone" Bluetooth devices really remove background noise?
I have a low-end Bluetooth device I use with my iPhone every day. I recently read a Popular Science review of the Motorola HX1 device and the writer said it totally blocked out background noise in a crowded bar. The caller only heard her voice and none of the background noise. I'm looking for anyone with real-world experience with the XH1 or other stealth mode devices. Do they totally block out the background noise or does some of it still sneak through?

I decided to try the Motorola Endeavor HX1 yesterday since it claims to block out extreme noise through its "stealth" fature. Boy, was I disappointed...
The HX1 works fine in standard mode but as soon as I switched to stealth mode my voice became almost impossible to hear and, believe it or not, the background noise was still quite evident. I tried it in both ears using all sorts of angles and never got it to work right. Fortunately I was able to return it for a full refund. So if the Motorola description is correct and the HX1 is indeed used by "special military forces", I can only hope those are the forces of the enemy. If our soldiers are dependent on this technology we're in for a long battle, I'm afraid. |
