Can you allow others to add events to a public Google Calendar?

I set up a public Google Calendar for local events. I would like to be able to allow the public to add events to the calendar but can so far only find settings to allow specific invited individuals to have this permission.

Is there a way to allow all viewers to post events? And if so, can their permissions be limited to posting but not changing or managing events posted by others?

Hi Laurel.

I checked Google Apps: The Missing Manual and it says you can only allow specific people to add events to a shared calendar. I double-checked the Google Calendar help pages, too, and couldn't find anything about letting just anyone add events to a public calendar. So the short answer is "No." =/
