Have you upgraded your notebook computer hard drive?
If so, what drive did you put in and how happy are you with it? I upgraded my 13" MacBook to a 500GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue (WD5000BEVT) about a year ago, and I'm reasonably happy with it. It's not incredibly fast, but it certainly has a lot of space.
Now I'm wondering if it makes sense to upgrade to a faster 7200 RPM drive or just wait a year or two until (hopefully) the prices on SSDs come down. 2 Replies
I upgraded last week to a 500 GB Seagate 7200 from an old 110GB 5400.
I also upgraded to Snow Leopard at the same time, so it's hard to know what the effect of the drive itself was. The machine's a lot snappier, but I'm guessing that's mostly the OS upgrade. (And my timing was good - the old hard drive in its shiny new enclosure died yesterday... ouch!)
I did the exact same upgrade as you - 500 gig Scorpio Blue in my 13" MacBook. Great upgrade as I have tons of free space. I have about 4 different virtual machines I use, so it helps to have the space to store them all. Also upgraded it to 4 gig of memory so that helps. I wonder if we would see much difference with the faster drive. Somehow I just can't see it as being worth it.
